Amash receives top award for fiscally responsible voting record

Amash earns an “A” grade from the National Taxpayers Union for support of taxpayer-friendly economic policies

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) received the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” from the National Taxpayers Union this week in recognition of the “A” grade he earned for his 2015 voting record. This is the fifth consecutive year Amash has received the organization’s highest grade.

“Economic freedom is essential to liberty,” said Amash. “Our national debt is an astounding $19.7 trillion, and our tax code is riddled with corporate welfare. Congress can promote competition, innovation, and prosperity by defending free markets and fighting cronyism.”

The National Taxpayers Union awards an “A” grade to U.S. representatives and senators who consistently support lower taxes, less spending, and fiscally responsible governance. Amash has earned this distinction each year he has served in Congress.
