Media Advisory: Amash, Smith Announce Proposal to Protect Americans from Indefinite Detention

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) and Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, will announce their proposal to protect Americans from indefinite military detention without charge or trial today. The House will consider the Smith-Amash amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act on Thursday. It is the leading proposal to guarantee Americans’ constitutionally protected rights.
